Hello Spring

Spring where have you been all my life, ( or at least all winter).  I love the freshness of spring nearly all of the beautiful things God has created are getting a fresh start.  From the budding flowers to the hues of the grass staring to get darker and many of us girls are even looking forward to the fresh start that comes with Spring.

For many of us our lives during winter have followed a similar pattern to the winter weather blizzard-like, treacherous, cold and way too long.  Winter for you may have been wracked with sickness, emotional avalanches, or snow drifting circumstances that nearly covered you over.  It’s time for you to say Hello to Spring.

This is a new day, a fresh start , you may not be able to totally erase the effects of winter in your life, but you can have a new way of seeing life in this new season.  There is something inspiring about bright colored flowers and from where I grew up seeing the new baby calves leaping and playing in the field.  A sense of wonder is kindled within at the array of possibilities for this new season filled with LIFE.

John 16:33

“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

No matter your winter give it to God and let his peace comfort your heart, encourage you for the road ahead knowing that your fresh start is possible because God has overcome the world.

So girls don’t let the winter blues plague your spring say hello to your fresh start today!

From the looks of things this is the next quarterly installment of the blog, but I hope to back on a more regular basis.

Happy 1st day of spring!

What are you building 2014 on?

I know we are now officially 9 days into the New Year , but there is still time to determine what foundation you are going to build this entirely new year on. Will you continue build on the baggage and debris from 2013 or will you start all over with a new foundation. The only way to really do that is to commit your life to the Lord and give all the past, your present and your future to God. Ephesians 2:20 talks about our foundation being built upon the foundation Of Jesus Christ. As I walk out the days in this new year I want to build on the foundation of Christ. This year I have decided to be positive and stay positive no matter what the situation. Which is only truly possible if you have God on your side.  I also have taken the advice of Proverbs 9:6 “Forsake (abandon) the foolish things & live by going in the way of understanding.”

We must build on Chirst

Leave the Foolish Things

Live in the way of wisdom (the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom)

Think about some ways you can build 2014 differently than you did 2013 and start today!

Wild Card Wednesday

You may have thought I fell off the face of the world for a little while and in some ways I did, but now I’m back.

It’s 2014 wow how the year has flown and I don’t think it is going to slow down any time soon.  I pray that you have had a great holiday season. Many of you have already made resolutions for this year and some of you have already stopped trying to reach some of them.  Over the course of the next couple of weeks I will be sharing my heart about my life and what I believe God wants for me in 2014.

I already feel like this year is going to be different, maybe because I am getting older. Last night I was signing up for something on the internet where you had to fill out a form with one of those drop down boxes for the year you were born and it felt like I just had to keep scrolling forever to find the ancient year that I was born in. ; )

I said all that to say this that my thought for today from God’s word is about Praise.  Focus on Praising God today instead of your pain (whether that pain is physical, emotional, relational).  Praise can be defined in many different ways, but the simplest way I can define it is your way of expressing to God how awesome He is. That can be done through song, the way you live and even telling other people how awesome He is.

Psalm 9:1-2 ” I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth all they marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.”

Make this a day of Praise Precious Girls!

A 26 hour day

Most of us would agree that to get all that we need to done, plus sleep and exercise; ) we need more hours in a day.  It’s amazing how our to-do list gets longer and the hours of day light get shorter.  I find myself in that particular time in life where there is so much to be done and I could really use those extra two hours or so I think.  As I was reading in Proverbs chapter 3 I was reminded that it wasn’t a 26 hour day that I needed, instead it was rearranging the way I lived the 24 hour day that I have. Let’s see what it says about multiplying our time.

My son, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
for length of days and years of life
and peace they will add to you.

So doing what God tells us in the Bible will add length of days and years to our life & peace. So no stressing out! One command that sticks out to me is is Matthew 6:33 , “Seek first the kingdom of God & His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” So if we put God first I believe he will help us to get everything we need to do done without having to add 2 hours to the day. This passage goes on to say:

Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good success[a]
in the sight of God and man.

So we don’t need to stress out or have a 26 hour day. We just need to live by God’s commands , walk in his love at all cost and then we will find favor with God and man and be successful. I don’t know about you , but I want to be successful in life and be able to balance spiritual growth, physical health, job, family and all the rest and Proverbs 3 lets us know it is possible.

Today evaluate all that you seemingly have to do and then see if you are keeping God’s commands and walking in His love.

Have a Happy Non-Stressed Out Afternoon!

Staying Well during the Cold Months

1.) Wash your hands after being in public places and before eating or touching your face.  Those little antibacterial gels that come in good smelling flavors are always handy to carry in your purse or car.

2.) Use those cleaning wipes at wal-mart for cleaning the cart handle before starting your shopping adventure.

3.) Make sure you drink plenty of water!

4.) If you start experiencing cold like symptoms don’t shrug them off. Pray that God would touch your body and then use wisdom in selecting appropriate medicine.  ( I have found the zinc chewables to be very effective as well as the emergen-c packets that go into water.) Not the most pleasant flavors in your mouth, but I find myself feeling better pretty quick.

Praying that all of you stay happy & healthy during these cold months! Don’t forget to bundle; don’t risk your health for the sake of fashion. That sounds like a prescription to buy a cute coat to me.!

Happy Wednesday!

Motivating Mondays

As the weekend ends and the to-do lists of Monday comes around we can easily get worked up about the business of the week and lose sight of the highlights of the weekend. My highlight and hopefully yours too is the time spent in your church services.  Let’s get each other motivated on Mondays by sharing something from your weekend church services that was inspiring to you.  Let’s motivate each other with a truth or a testimony from your weekend church experiences. Praying you have a Monday motivated by God’s love to show compassion to those around you.

Saturday Share

Saturdays are typically seen as time to spend with the family, so we want to use Saturdays as an opportunity to connect with our family of young women. Please share an important milestone, a prayer need, an exciting event or challenge that you have had this past week. When posting please refrain from using specific names..Remember to put God first even on the weekends!

Happy Sharing!

Simple Car Tips all Girls should Know:

1.) Check oil and anti-freeze every fill up.

  • The oil has a dip stick that is marked. Remove the stick wipe with a paper towel.  Put the dipstick back all the way in and remove again.  If the oil is not touching the end of the stick at least a 1/2 inch up the stick you need put a quart of oil in.  The type of oil your car uses can be found on the oil cap on the engine or in your owner’s manual.
  • Your anti-freeze has a container on one side of the engine. It will say anti-freeze only or coolant only.  If it is low just buy antifreeze and fill to the line on the side of the container.  If you are completely out and the car is overheating, you can use water but only in Summer not in winter.  Water will freeze and cause problems.

2.) How to change a tire! It’s much more simple than it sounds!

  • Locate your car jack located in the trunk of a car, side panel in a van trunk or under a truck seat.
  • Jack the car by setting the jack under the frame (it will be a flat surface( Jack until the tire can move freely
  • When removing the lug nuts you can use a tire iron or the handle to your jack.  Righty, tighty, lefty loosey. Remove all lug nuts.ire and replace with the spare
  • Tighten the lug nuts as tight as possible using a star pattern ( skip one and it will make  a star.)
  • lower car off the jack and you are finished

There’s No Fine Print

Besides those small green New Testaments with size 0 font God doesn’t come with fine print.  Whether it’s the latest medicine, energy bars, instant weight loss pills or “free” prizes game they all come with fine print. You know what I mean when it sounds too good to be true.  Eat this cereal and you will lose 5 lbs in day or fill out this survey and you will win a car.  It seems like we are bombarded daily with offers that sound great ,but because of our culture we quickly ask our self what does it say in the fine print.  I personally love the commercials that have fine print, every time I see one of those I think I need to go get an eye exam. Manufacturers cram all the really important things like all the terrible symptoms, eligibility requirements and disclaimers in the fine print.  So it’s natural as a human to want to think that God’s promises come with fine print, BUT they don’t! If you are in need of a healing, deliverance from addictions, to be forgiven of your sins you don’t have to worry about terrible symptoms or if you are eligible. Isaiah 53:1 says, “But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,And by His stripes we are healed.” Your healing , your peace, your sins they have already been paid for by Jesus. So stop looking for the fine print and look to Jesus He wants to meet you and your needs.
